The Gentle Barn Comes to New York
The Gentle Barn's followers have made it increasingly apparent that New York carriage horses need us, and we are ready to answer the call.
Our urgency stems from the tragic euthanization of Ryder, a New York carriage horse whose video and name went viral this past summer. He had collapsed due to heat and exhaustion, was whipped in an effort to get him to stand, and was later shown to be completely malnourished...
We immediately reached out to take Ryder in and provide him sanctuary for the rest of his life. We were met with resistance, and ultimately, the news of his death.
It is only a matter of time before the next carriage horse collapses. We want to be ready. We want to open a Gentle Barn in New York City, offer a place of rehabilitation and retirement for carriage horses, and work with authorities to bring electric carriages to Manhattan.
The Gentle Barn provides rescued animals sanctuary and rehabilitates them with high-quality medical care, organic hay and feed, soft bedding, dental care, acupuncture, massage therapy, nutritional supplements, and around-the-clock care.
